Broke College Student in DC needs free/used/cheap DSLR and photography equipment. (Me)
His apprentice in Nashville (my 14 year old cousin) is shooting with older, crappier equipment, and aspires to do what I do, but I can’t afford to buy equipment for me alone if I wanted at this moment in time.
If you send me anything, I will prioritize my cousin so he can pursue his photography dreams in my trail. If you have any high-end, yet old equipment, I will take it to further my own operations here locally.
Hit me up. I will take the charity gladly.
If you have any tried-and-trusted T3is, D90s, 80Ds, 40s, D3100s...that you just want off your hands, I would be glad to give it to my cousin. The 20d is showing signs of age.
I shoot on a Canon system but am no stranger to Nikon, et. al.
:)

How cheap are you going for?

Well, for the time being, I am well-set. I have a 70D and a kit lens, and a 70-200 2.8 and people are paying me to take their photos (which I guess means something) I usually borrow my friends’ 50mm 1.4 for portraits. I spent years saving for the kit over time. But I can barely afford to upgrade to a new medium telephoto and replace my broken 1.8.
I’m really reaching out for my cousin. I’ll make due with my kit, but he’s got a third-fourth hand Craigslist 20D and fifth-hand 75-300 he got for free. His family can barely make ends meet so he c an’t afford any new equipment.
He texts me every day asking how my photography business is going. And it is going, but I’m also in school full time. So I imagine there are kind souls out there with a dust-covered camera or lens they can channel through me.
How cheap am I going for? Depends on the discount... I would only feel right paying if it’s lower than Craigslist price (especially if it’s a steal, I can justify buying it outright and sending it to him)
I would like to find a better body or an IS lens or a cheap 1.8 for Ryan. He’s not a pro, so I don’t think he’s ready for L-rated equipment yet. I would prefer he masters some lower-range equipment first.
